Login to AnswerHow did it end up that there are SO many games on Steam that nobody knows about? I really don’t get how it’s even possible not just to choose, but even to see new games, old games, that are not worse in quality or how well they are made, like they’re actually interesting.
That’s why I don’t really care much about Steam top lists. Is that info even accurate? Or can a developer or studio just push their game really aggressively with marketing? How many downloads are there really and stuff like that.
Well, you can also search for games yourself. I used to do that a lot. It’s not a boring process, actually pretty interesting. You browse the platform looking for something cool, interesting, maybe even niche. In general, sometimes that alone gives a lot of enjoyment. But now I don’t really have time, and I still want to play something new, so I use https://steamdb.com/, where there are also something like top lists or tabs with trending or most popular games right now. The difference from Steam tops is that here everything is driven by analytics. In the top it’s what gets downloaded, bought, and played the most and so on.

At certain moments my concentration felt steady and deliberate, while at others it moved naturally from one element to another without interruption. These small differences made me realize how adaptable attention can be in well-structured digital environments. In the end, it became an interesting exercise in understanding my own patterns of focus.
