Creating the study schedule

How to make a study plan?

You need to have a clear understanding of your goals and the time frame in which you plan to achieve them. It is a good idea to create a list of goals, then break them down into manageable weekly chunks.

Your study schedule should be used as a guideline to ensure that you get to the destination you desire. A good study plan can help you to be disciplined and have a routine in your student life and your personal life.
Here are some tips for making a study plan

Let's now take a look at some ways to make your study schedule more efficient and maximize its benefits.
Make a list of your goals

Before you begin to plan your time and make a detailed plan, you should spend some time creating a list with goals for each topic or subject. Put the first thing first, like "do my coursework for me", then go to the minor things like "check all the pages to find undone exercises". You can write down your goals for the next month, three months or six months. If you have a strict schedule, break down your time into weeks. While you don't have to plan your entire study schedule for next year, it is important to clearly define your goals and accomplishments.

At least once per fortnight, refer to your goals and ensure you're on track. You can keep a list handy to track your accomplishments as they are completed. You need to plan more time if you find yourself behind. You can also adjust your schedule if you're ahead in one area, but behind in another. This will allow you to stay focused and on the goal of achieving all you have set out to do.
Make sure you have enough time

Make sure you allow enough time for flexibility when creating your study schedule. Your work will suffer if you're close to a deadline and don't have enough time to prepare properly. Set your time so you can finish revisions and writing before any deadlines or exams.

No matter how disciplined or organized you may be, there will always be events that are beyond your control and require us to alter our plans. You can save time by scheduling in extra days or even weeks to be prepared for any unexpected problems that might arise.
Print your schedule by typing it in

You don't want to keep your schedule in your head. Instead, make sure that you write it down and post it on your computer desktop. Or, better yet, print it and hang it on your wall. Either create your own planner or choose from one of many available online templates. Google Calendar is an excellent resource. It is simple to use and allows for colour-coded blocks to organize your studies.

It is much easier to track where you are in your study plan once you have your schedule laid out. You can plan for activities that fit around your study schedule by having both a digital and a printed copy of your schedule. You can also avoid double booking and being forced to choose between your studies and your social life by having both a physical and digital copy.
Divide your days into blocks

Even the most diligent and hardworking students cannot sit still for 12 hours and learn. It is best to break down your day into blocks. You don't want to spend a full day studying in the library. Instead, break your study time into smaller chunks of two hours. You can switch the subject after two hours, take a break and move to another location.

No matter how you divide your time, make sure you don't sit in the same place doing the same thing for long periods of time. It will soon start to affect your work. Even if you're working hard to finish an essay you need to submit the next day to get it done, make sure you take a break at least once a hour to ensure you stay focused. It will make your work much more enjoyable.
You can schedule up to six weeks

As we have seen, it is important that you set your long-term study goals. However, your schedule should not exceed six weeks in advance. This allows you to be flexible and can ess where you are struggling and what you need to concentrate on as you go.

Half-terms at school and university are held every six weeks. We work hard and have a tremendous brain capacity, so we need to take time to reflect, recalibrate and reconfigure.
Avoid cramming

It is likely that your schedule will reflect the fact that you will be spending more time studying when you get closer to exam deadlines and intense exams. It is okay to allow for a little more time in the later weeks and months. Don't put off your plans and try to rush. It doesn't work well for most people.

Research has shown that learning is more effective when spread over a longer time period than cramming. This applies to around 90% of people. If you don't believe that cramming works for you, it is better to spread your learning over a longer period of time than trying to fit everything in at once.
Make the most of your time

You might be able to use the extra time you have once a week, or once a fortnight to do less-demanding work. It is vital that you make time for social activities, exercise, and cooking while studying. However you can also use any time you have to read or review revision notes.

It is important that you stick to your plan to achieve your goals. However, it is okay to break from it every once in a while if it is possible. For your mental health, it is important to continue socializing, having fun, exercising, and keeping fit around your studies. If you find it difficult to do other things, don't waste your time.
Change your study environment

It is important to plan when and what you will study. Also, think about where you would like to study. It is best to avoid studying in your bedroom. This can cause sleep problems and make it difficult to fall asleep at night. Although it can be great to work in a university or local library, it is important to have other spaces.

You can browse your local coffee shops or shared workspaces to find out if you are interested in working there. You might also consider working at the home of a friend, provided they aren't distracting you too much. You should ensure that your environment supports the work you have to do on a given day. The library may be best suited for essay writing, while a cafe is great for group study sessions or light note revision.
Make sure you schedule time for your health

Make sure you include enough time for your health when creating your study schedule. Include time for exercise, adequate sleep, time to prepare healthy and nutritious meals, and enough time to get to bed at night.

It is important to exercise at least 30 minutes per day, and to sleep 7 to 9 hours each night. A healthy diet is important, even during the most intensive study sessions. Your studies will be more successful if you have healthy habits. It is therefore important to set aside time for your health.
Keep to your schedule

Make sure that you stick to your schedule once you've created it. It's fine to stray from your schedule every once in a while, but it is designed to organize you. Keep it that way. Try to limit the amount of time you stray from your schedule.

A key component of any educational journey is learning discipline and time management. Your study schedule is ultimately up to you. It is an important component of how you develop your discipline. Sticking to your study schedule will help you in your studies as well as your personal life.

Write it down, use it, then stick to it!
