would I hear it over ambient noise or music?

I’ve come to appreciate how far electric furniture tech has come in the last few years. You can really tell the difference in build quality just from how smoothly something moves or how it sounds in motion. It’s subtle stuff, but it makes a big difference when you're using it every day, especially in shared or quiet environments.

I’ve been using one of their dual-column sets for my workbench, and honestly, the noise is super minimal—more of a soft motor hum than anything distracting. I usually play music while working and I barely notice it moving unless I'm really listening for it. If you’re looking into a quiet setup, this electric actuator cylinder https://www.progressiveautomations.com/collections/linear-actuators  might help you narrow down your choice . Mine’s been smooth and steady, no weird vibrations or whining sounds.

I’ve been thinking about swapping my current sit-stand desk for one with lifting columns from Progressive Automations. My current setup makes this awful buzzing noise when I raise it, and it drives me crazy during calls. I'm really hoping for something quieter, especially since I share my home office with my partner now. Can anyone here speak to how quiet these lifting columns are in daily use? Like, would I hear it over ambient noise or music?
