I agree, and speaking from my experience, you can listen to the seller but you shouldn’t just trust them. Especially if they say something like extra checks are a waste of time. You should have the car’s VIN, every car has one. I recommend the FAXVIN service. The report there is paid and it has the full history of the car. And even that is not 100% guaranteed because some things might not be in official registries or sources. But it will already give you enough info about the car.
I wouldn’t trust a stranger just on their word. There are situations where even people you know might lie if they want to get something out of it. There are now different ways to find out as much info about a car as possible, so it’s better not to take a risk and check.
I’m planning to buy a car. For now I can only afford a used one, but still this is a super important step for me, my first personal car. I’m talking to the seller online. He says the car is in great condition. Extra checks will just take extra time. But I’m kind of unsure. How can I actually make sure the car is okay and the seller is not lying?
