Amid a slew of allegations against several multi-level marketing companies, including Destiny 2000 Ltd, a parliamentary panel has advised the commerce ministry to approve no such new company.
The Parliament Secretariat in a media statement said the Parliamentary Standing Committee on the Ministry of Commerce gave the advice at a meeting on Tuesday.
The committee asked the ministry to submit before it a report on the activities of the five new companies who had been given licences.
It suggested steps to alert the people against the companies, who are operating with fake licences or without licences and fleecing people.
Committee chief Md Tajul Islam presided over the meeting, attended by Commerce Minister Tofail Ahmed, among others.
The panel advised the commerce ministry to set up more markets on the Bangladesh-India borders.
It asked the ministry to submit a report on the upcoming Dhaka International Trade Fair-2015.
