BENTON, Ark. -- Our Making Money from Home series continues today as we head to Saline County to meet the Yanceys and hear their success story selling a line of health products called Plexus.
Making calls and returning emails is a typical work day for Timie Yancey. But her office is in the comfort of her home, and her job allowing her to be home with family is a dream come true.
This mother of two is a former magazine editor who took a leap of faith on a health product line called Plexus, something her husband Jake wasn't sure of.
"I was very skeptical. I actually didn't want her to do it. I was so skeptical," Jake Yancey said.
Plexus is best known for it's pink drink called Slim. One sip and Timie was hooked. "Within a week I just felt better. Plexus, what it does, it heals you from the inside out."
Originally created as a product to help with diabetes, Plexus claims to help you lose weight, regulate blood sugar, decrease blood pressure, lower cholesterol and increase energy.
"I lost 25 pounds." Timie added. She also went from drinking 9-10 cokes a day to zero. That's when Timie decided to start selling it.
Plexus works as a multi-level marketing company. When Timie became an ambassador, she quickly grew a team of people selling and she started receiving checks for thousands of dollars, and even trips around the country. That's when her husband started to believe.
"It has transformed a lot of people we know and their lives," Jake said. Then he bought in. The nearly 7-foot former UALR basketball player not only started using but even selling the pink drink.
Jake worked his way to the top of the ambassador charts as well. In return, both of the Yanceys received free Lexus SUV's, two trips to Hawaii, and they're both bringing in big money. Of course, this isn't typical for everyone selling Plexus. This couple is in the top one percent of those who sell. According to Plexus worldwide, the average amount made is $28,000 a year. Added income or not, this stay at home venture is about more than simply salaries.
"My number one priority is my family," Timie said.
Making money staying at home - a perfect way for a Saline County couple to keep pumpkin patch trips and school pick ups a possibility.
"Plexus has been the biggest surprise and the best blessing. It's the best decision we've ever made," Timie said.
