Indonesian taxi operator PT Express Transindo Utama Tbk (TAXI) has introduced an MLM referral program to deal with a shortage of drivers to run its fleet. The company has a fleet of 10,000 taxis all over Indonesia and an ongoing shortage of drivers.

"This program provides new business opportunities to people to become partners, or refer a driver to become a driver in the Express Group and be a sponsor," explains Merry Anggraini of TAXI.

"We provide bonuses on a sustained basis in this tiered partnership program. Sponsors earn around Rp 500,000 upon recruiting one driver. If the driver performs well, the sponsor gets operation and bonus points which is converted to cash." he added.

A maximum of Rp 100 million can be achieved for a driver recruitment up to 10 levels down and a maximum operational bonus of Rp35 million per month can be earned. All bonuses are accumulated over a certain period, for example per month or per year.

Although TAXI drivers claim to have recruited around 18,000 drivers for the entire fleet, driver needs continue to increase. 

"Currently this program is running in the areas of ??Cirebon, Klaten, Wonogiri, Kediri, and some other areas on the island of Java.  We hope that to expand it into other areas in Indonesia," said Merry.
