Economic offences wing hunts for imposter in QNet case

MUMBAI: The city economic offences wing (EOW), probing the multi-crore cheating case by marketing firm QNet is now focusing on a net user who is posing as 'EOW Mumbai' on a newspaper's web site and misleading the investors, said police.



QNet is facing a criminal case and 13 people associated with this firm have been arrested so far. The police have invoked the stringent law, Maharashtra Protection of Interest of Depositors (MPID) act. As per the act, attached properties could be sold out and the money distributed among the victims (investors). The police have frozen accounts belonging to the firm and people associated with it.
