Optimism surrounds Avon Products, as it gets ready to report its second quarter results on Thursday, October 30, 2014. Analysts are expecting the company to book a profit of 16 cents a share, up from 14 cents a year ago.
The consensus estimate has fallen over the past month, from 17 cents, but it’s the same as it was three months ago. For the fiscal year, analysts are expecting earnings of 78 cents per share. A year after being $2.51 billion, analysts expect revenue to fall 14% year-over-year to $2.16 billion for the quarter. For the year, revenue is projected to come in at $9.05 billion.
For the past three quarters, the company’s reported revenue has been declining. The year-over-year drop in revenue was 13% in the first quarter. Prior to that, revenue fell 11% in the fourth quarter and 9% in the third quarter year-over-year.
