Bhubaneswar: In a major development to the mega-chit fund scam issue, Choudwar MLA Prabhat Biswal appeared before the CBI on Friday for questioning over his alleged links with Seashore Group, a major player in the multi-crore chit fund scam. His wife and former chairperson of Cuttack Zilla Parishad Laxmibilasini Biswal also appeared before CBI for questioning.
Prabhat reached at the CBI office at around 3.55 pm. At 6.30 pm, Laxmibilasini also reached at the CBI office. Both of them were questioned face-to-face with Seashore CMD Prashant Dash. Shortly thereafter, Animesh Biswal, a relative of Prabhat also went in with some documents inside an envelope. After grilling them for five and a half hours, CBI left the duo at 9 pm.
After coming out of the CBI office, Biswal told media persons that he and his wife were only questioned about a piece of land they had sold to the Seashore group. “My wife had a piece of land measuring 32 ‘gunthas’ at Benapur village in Jajpur district, which she sold to the Seashore group in 2011 for Rs 29 lakh,” he said.
