The Avon Lady isn’t winning any beauty contests. at least those being voted upon by investors.
Avon AVP Products lost 9% to $9.97 Thursday, falling to its lowest level since 1996, after spooking Wall Street with a pre-Halloween earnings report Thursday that showed continued blemishes in the beauty product’s marketer’s turnaround efforts.
Avon said third-quarter revenue fell 8% to $2.1 billion, although net income came in at 21 cents per share, vs. a 1 cent loss for the year ago quarter.
Latin America, Avon’s biggest market, reported $1 billion in revenue, a 12% drop from last year. North American revenue fell 16% to $276.7 million.
