ASEA Bradley County Chapter Sweeps Awards at Convention

ASEA Bradley County Chapter Sweeps Awards at Convention

Warren, Ark., - The ASEA Bradley County Chapter was recently recognized at the Arkansas State Employees Association’s Convention in Hot Springs.  The chapter received an award for Chapter Extraordinaire as one of the top three chapters.  They also received recognition for having the most attendees at the convention for the second year. The Chapter Extraordinaire Award recognizes chapters that participate in community service in addition to their chapter responsibilities.

“Our members worked hard this year to be an active chapter and we all enjoyed being able to give back to our community,” Chapter President and Southeast Arkansas Human Development Center employee, Sheila Smith said. “We thank ASEA for all of the support and encouragement they give our Chapter. I want to thank all of our members for their hard work and contributions because without each and every member working towards our goal, it would not have been possible.”

The Bradley County Chapter made donations to Personal Advocates for the Warren Animal Shelter (PAWS), Relay for Life and the Ebenezer Food Pantry. The chapter also collected $400 for the Warren Junior Auxiliary Angel Tree and started a Kleenex project for the Warren Elementary and Middle Schools; these are only a few of their community service projects.

The chapter president also received accolades. Smith was nominated by her co-workers to be considered for the Outstanding State Employee. She also won the 2015 Recruiter of the Year award and received recognition for being one of the top three ASEA Recruiters of the Quarter.

The Outstanding State Employee Award is for state employees by state employees. Only coworkers and supervisors can nominate someone for this prestigious honor. To be nominated, the individual must demonstrate distinguished or outstanding service to the state and community as well as integrity and devotion to the welfare of Arkansas residents.

“It was a very special honor to have been nominated by my co-workers for consideration for the ASEA Outstanding State Employee, she said. “I appreciate each member that contributed to the nomination and for all of the hard work that they do toward our goals.  They are a great supportive group.”
