NEW DELHI: Indian Direct Selling Association (IDSA) on Thursday named its new executive committee, as part of which it announced Rajat Banerji, national head corporate affairs at Amway India as its chairman.
Banerji said in a statement: "Our immediate aim is to work towards a policy framework for direct selling with the Government and stakeholders. We will encourage and maintain an environment where members can operate independently and ethically."
Amway India CEO William Pinckney has been arrested twice over the past two years on alleged charges of unethical practices and subsequently released. The IDSA, affiliated to the World Federation of Direct Selling Association, comprises of 60 direct selling associations globally. The IDSA has been lobbying with the government to form laws to differentiate fraudulent direct selling schemes from genuine ones.
