Berhampur: Three police teams will soon leave for Andhra Pradesh, West Bengal and Jharkhanda to investigate the illegal activities of former Sanakhemundi MLA Ramesh Jena (Congress), SP (Berhampur) Sarthak Sarangi said on Monday.
Preliminary inquiry had revealed that the ex-MLA had close nexus with the criminals of Jharkhand. Police suspect that Jena procured firearms from West Bengal and invested in gutkha business at Visakhapatnam. hree revolvers and a country-made gun were seized from his house following his arrest on March 6. "A CBI team will soon visit the town to investigate the former MLA's links with a chit fund company, Green India," the SP said.
