KOLKATA: CBI is looking into transport minister Madan Mitra's son's alleged involvement in a chit fund company, following a report from the Serious Fraud Investigation Office (SFIO) to the finance ministry.
Central agencies have found preliminary evidence that large amounts of Saradha cash went into a host of other Ponzi firms, including one where Madan's son Swarup was on the board of directors, say sources.
CBI has so far registered cases against seven non-Saradha Ponzi firms. It is already investigating one of these companies that operated 11 firms, with top politicians and their kin allegedly having a hand in transactions.
